Which CCTV Survey Do You Need?
Don’t just guess—know. We offer specialised surveys tailored to your specific project requirements.
Standard CCTV “Look-See” Inspection: Recurring blockages, bad smells, and slow drains. If plunging doesn’t stop your drains from blocking, you likely have a hidden defect like root ingress or a collapsed pipe. Our cameras identify the exact cause and location of the problem, allowing us to recommend a permanent repair (like patching) rather than just a temporary unblocking.
Homebuyer & Pre-Purchase Surveys: Property buyers, Mortgage lenders, and Solicitors. Standard building surveys miss underground drains—don’t risk inheriting a £5,000 repair bill. Our structural check produces a WRC-Approved Report accepted by all lenders and insurers. If we find defects, this report gives you the vital evidence needed to negotiate the property price.
Build-Over & Drain Mapping: Extensions, Architects, and New Builds. Building near a public sewer? Authorities like Thames Water require a “Build-Over Agreement” for approval. We use Sonar Drain Tracing to map the exact depth and direction of your pipes, providing the certified pre- and post-construction maps required for building control sign-off.
Commercial & Industrial Surveys: Site Handovers, Schools, and Developers. We provide comprehensive asset mapping for large-scale sites. From large-diameter culverts to manhole inspections, our team delivers the detailed data and CAD drawings you need to ensure your site is fully compliant with environmental and safety regulations.

Your Drain Inspection Report: What You Actually Get
A survey is only as good as the report. We don’t just hand you a DVD and leave. You receive a comprehensive, industry-standard data pack.
All our reports are produced to WRC (Water Research Council) MSCC5 Standards—the gold standard required by UK insurance companies.
Full Technical Report (PDF): A written log detailing pipe materials, flow direction, and diameters.
Defect Coding: All issues are graded from 1 (minor) to 5 (collapse) using official WRC codes.
High-Definition Video: A link to the full digital footage of your sewer inspection.
Still Images: High-res photos of key defects (cracks, roots, obstructions).
Site Plan: A schematic layout of your drainage system (essential for future works).
The Solution: A clear, fixed-price quotation for any necessary repairs (lining, patching, or excavation).

Our 4-Step Inspection Process
Access & Setup: Our qualified engineer arrives, assesses the site, and identifies the safest access point (manhole or rodding eye) to insert the camera.
The Inspection: We insert a push-rod or crawler camera, navigating the entire length of the pipework while recording in HD.
Sonar Tracing: If we find a defect, we use above-ground sonar tools to pinpoint its exact location and depth—meaning we know exactly where to dig or patch without guesswork.
Report & Recommendations: You receive your full data pack and a no-obligation quote for repairs.

Why Choose Drain 247 To Inspect Your Drains?
We Are Local: We aren’t a lead-generation site or a national franchise. We are based in Watford and have been serving London & Herts since 1986. We know the local Victorian drainage systems and the heavy clay soil of Hertfordshire better than anyone.
We Fix What We Find: We are full-service drainage experts. If our survey finds a break, we can fix it using “No-Dig” technology (structural lining) often on the same day, saving you the hassle of finding a second contractor.
Fully Accredited: We hold certifications from CHAS, Constructionline, and ISO. You are hiring vetted, insured, and qualified professionals.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do I need to be home for the survey?
It is helpful but not essential. If you cannot be there, we can collect keys or access external manholes, then email you the full digital report and video footage.
2. Will the survey damage my pipes?
No. Our cameras are non-invasive. However, if your drains are heavily blocked, we may need to perform High-Pressure Water Jetting to clear the view for the camera. We will always advise you of this cost beforehand.
3. How long does it take?
A standard 3-bedroom semi-detached home usually takes 1.5 to 2 hours. Complex commercial sites or “Build-Over” mapping may take longer.
